About SWDC
Summit Water Distribution Company is a non-profit, mutual, shareholder owned company. As a shareholder in Summit Water, you own a proportionate share of the company and are entitled to a specific increment of water based on your share certificate.
For most residential shareholders the increment of water that you own is .76 acre feet. This is equivalent to 247,630 gallons during each water year which begins January 1st and ends December 31st.
The typical household can easily stay within the water share by using 350 gallons or less per day in the winter when not irrigating outdoors and 1,200 gallons per day in the summer when you are irrigating outdoors. Tracking your water use is a simple task that can save you from receiving substantial overuse charges each year. Each shareholder is billed monthly for their water share and once annually if the water share has been exceeded.
We are always available to assist you in managing your water use. Excessive water use can be very expensive and should be avoided. The biggest culprits in excessive water use are the sprinkling system outdoors and toilets and water softeners indoors. See our reading your meter page to understand how to use this as a tool to save you money.
We want our valued shareholders to be informed about our water system. If you want to learn more, please attend any of our regularly scheduled meetings. If you plan to attend please call the office in advance. We also invite you to attend our Annual Shareholder Meeting held each April.
